Hamdiye Uzuner studied "Molecular Biology and Genetics" at the "Izmir Institute of Technology", in Izmir, Turkey. During her bachelor studies in 2017, she completed a summer internship at the University of Hamburg as part of the Erasmus+ internship program. She worked on a project that investigated similarity-based target prediction of naturally occurring compounds. She then obtained her Master's degree from "Izmir Biomedicine and Genome Institute" in 2020 and specialized in bioinformatics and computational biology, especially "Next Generation Sequencing" data analysis. In February 2021, she moved to the Algorithms for Reproducible Bioinformatics group at the Institute of Human Genetics, University Hospital Essen. She then moved to the DFG Research Training Group WisPerMed and started working on a project to develop a tool for haplotype quantification, specifically for determination of HLA types of subclonal tumors, with the approach also being suitable for the identification of viral lineages.
