Henning Schäfer studied "Medical Informatics" at the Department of Computer Science at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences. His master thesis dealt with "Named Entity Recognition of biomedical entities from unstructured texts". Since March 2021 he is a PhD student in the DFG Research Training Group WisPerMed and works on the topic "Analysis of unstructured texts from publications". Normalization, i.e. linking biomedical entities with controlled terminologies, is of particular importance. For the processing of clinical texts, he mainly uses the latest available technologies, such as Transformer architectures.
