Summer School 2025

From 3–5 September 2025, WisPerMed hosted its annual Summer School in Utrecht, bringing together researchers and experts for three days of learning, exchange, and collaboration. The program opened with a warm welcome at the Park Plaza Hotel, followed by hands-on training in FHIR standards led by Firely and a workshop on Firemetrics with WisPerMeds speaker Prof. Dr. Felix Nensa. Keynote lectures, including “From Chaos to Structure – HealthSage” and Dr. Loes Hollestein’s talk on population-based data and personalized prognostic models, provided participants with insights into data-driven healthcare. Interactive elements such as barcamps and internal working group sessions encouraged active participation and cross-disciplinary dialogue. In addition, participants benefited from technical training on the KITE platform with Daniel Scholtyssek and a session on FAIR principles with Dr. Sean Wilkinson. The Summer School also placed strong emphasis on networking and community building, with shared meals, a boat tour through Utrecht’s canals, and a team escape room experience. Each day was structured to balance knowledge exchange with informal discussions, strengthening both scientific collaboration and personal connections. By combining lectures, workshops, and social activities, the Summer School created an environment where young researchers could sharpen their skills while exploring new perspectives in medical data science.
